Trash - Household waste only, no construction or remodeling waste. No household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas, antifreeze, corrosive chemicals, etc.). click here for more information on household hazardous waste.

Recycling - All items can be commingled in the same recycling container. We prefer you do not use plastic bags for recycling.
Acceptable items include:

• aluminum cans, foil and trays - rinsed and cleaned
• metal food and beverage cans, empty aerosol cans
• clear and colored glass
• #1 through #7 plastic bottles with lids, wide-mouth plastic containers & rigid plastics (no clamshell containers)
• Newspaper, mixed paper, magazines, catalogs & phone books
• cardboard boxes - broken down and flattened, no bigger than 3x3 feet. Larger boxes must be cut down to 3x3' and flattened.

Yard Debris - Grass clippings and leaves should be bagged in clear plasic bags, brown paper bags or trash can clearly marked "yard debris". Brush and limbs should be bundled and tied. Limbs should not exceed 4 feet in length and 3 inches in diameter. Items that are bagged or bundled are not to exceed 50 lbs. Concrete, bricks, mulch, dirt and sod are not acceptable.

Bulk items - Please notify American Disposal Services customer service at 703-368-0500 at least 24 hours in advance when putting out bulk items.

Holidays - American Disposal Services does not operate on:

• Thanksgiving
• Christmas
• New Year's Day
• any other day the Fairfax County landfill is closed

Pickup will resume om the next scheduled collection day.
